Noreen excels as Lahore win Malala U-21 cricket title

KARACHI: Off-break bowler Noreen Yaqoob captured four wickets as Lah­o­re won the inaugural Malala U-21 Nati­onal Women Cricket Champio­nship when they beat Karachi by 27 runs in the final here at the Southend Club Ground on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Lahore posted 104-8 in 20 overs. Hafsa Amjad top-scored with 25 off 30 balls with four boundaries. Off-spinner Omaima Sohail grabbed three wickets for 25 runs in four overs.

Noreen then grabbed 4-9 as Karachi were restricted to 77 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs with Areeba top-scoring with 14.

PCB chairman Shaharyar M.Khan distributed the prizes. KCCA president Prof. Ejaz Faruqi was also present on the occasion.
