Senseless killing

Published December 22, 2014

IT has been a day of great pain for us across the border to see events of the day unfold. Many among us have watched with tearful eyes the horrific spectre of innocent school children killed by terrorists. Words fail.

As an Indian journalist I have been observing reactions pouring in from various quarters on social media in India on the massacre in Peshawar. I have found a resonance of that personal pain which I felt. I am glad that there has been an overwhelming outpouring of grief amongst ordinary Indians on the social media for the families of the victims.

I am sure the statements of prominent Indian politicians will find a place in Pakistani media. But I hope you will also record the sentiments of an average man on the street too.

I once read somewhere that ‘dard-i-mushtarik mein hai rooh-i-ettihad”.

I hope this act of senseless killing will foster the ‘rooh-i-ettihad’ among our two nations.
