KARACHI: Formidable Faqir Colony Club won the boxing event of the commissioner Karachi Lyari sports and peace festival which concluded at Ustad Abdullah Baloch boxing stadium, Peoples Sports Complex, on Sunday.

The promising boxers of the club lived up to their true potential while grabbing three gold and four silver medals out of possible 20 that were at stake in 10 weight divisions — five in boys and as many in juniors.

Azad Baloch Club finished runners-up with a tally of two golds.

District Municipal Administrator South, Mohammad Raeesi, who graced the finals, congratulated the winners and commended the efforts of organisers for promoting healthy activities in Lyari.

Senior officials of the game namely ex-Olympian Malang Baloch, Abid Hussain Brohi, Abdul Ghani Darwesh and Asghar Baloch were prominent among others who were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the prize distribution ceremony will be held at the People’s Sports Complex on Dec 30, the concluding day of the festival.

42kg: Sajid Rasheed (Young Baloch Club) bt Sher Ali (Faqir Colony Club) 3-0

44kg: Nadir Kachi (Pak Shaheen Club) bt Zohaib Rasheed (Young Baloch Club) 2-1

Juniors:

46kg: Majid Ali (Faqir Colony Club) bt Jalil Aslam (Mauripur National Club) 3-0
