LAHORE: Eight matches were decided in different age categories of the ITF Senior Tennis Championship at the Bagh-i-Jinnah courts here on Friday.

In the 35-plus class, Irfanullah and Mohammad Arif reached the final. While Irfan defeated Bhagat Ali in the first semi-final 6-2, 6-4 Arif overcame Shehryar Salamat 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in a tough second last-four match.

In the 50-plus doubles category, Pakistan duo of Rai Zahid and Rashid Malik blanked Indian pair of Ajay Talwar and Ajeet Bhardwag 6-0, 6-0.

In the 45-plus doubles, three quarter-finals were decided.

Asad Niaz and Haseeb Aslam beat Israr Qul and Inamullah 7-5, 7-5, the Pawan Jain-Naveed Hussain pair carved out a 6-2, 6-0 victory over N. Khatri and Apte Prasad, and Irfanullah and Umar Ayaz downed Nawaz and Ijaz Rasul 6-4, 7-5.

Meanwhile, in the 60-plus class Pervaiz Bajwa and Naveed Anjum beat Asif Dar-Ashfaq Chohan duo 6-1, 6-2 to make the semi-finals.

In the same category, Asad Niaz and Maj. Talha outplayed the pair of Mohammad Ashraf and Imtiaz Hussain 6-0, 6-1.
