IT was heartening to see a candlelight vigil at the Sindhi Muslim roundabout on Wednesday evening. However, what was disturbing at the same time was to see youths carrying placards calling for hanging.
Baying for blood defeats the purpose of such vigils which express solidarity with the victims and sends a (non-violent) political message.
Having experienced not one massacre but many, do we need another to satisfy base instincts? Would we not benefit from respecting the rule of law and basic human values?
