KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced that it will hold a rally on Friday to condemn the Peshawar massacre and show support to the Pakistan army.

The new chief of the party’s coordination committee, Qamar Mansoor, said at a press conference at the party’s headquarter, Nine Zero, on Thursday that the people should join the rally to show solidarity with the families of the victims and voice their resolve to fight terrorism.

“The MQM’s stance on extremism and terrorism is well known. The party chief Altaf Hussain has been warning of the menace for years but a certain segment of society first denied such a threat and then started ridiculing the party’s stance, but the time has proved the MQM and its leader true. It is high time that every Pakistani stood up againstthis barbarism,” he said

He said the MQM would hold the rally after Friday prayers, which would start from the Numaish intersection and terminate at Tibet Centre on M.A. Jinnah Road.

“Karachi has always come forward in challenging times for the nation and the tomorrow’s rally will reflect this spirit when Karachiites will come out of their homes to show support for the armed forces,” said Mr Mansoor.
