LARKANA: Two tribesmen were killed and as many others were wounded when armed groups of Jagirani and Mugheri traded fire in Gulan Ji Garhi village on Thursday.

Police said the Jagrani and Mugheri tribesmen had been at daggers drawn for some time over an incident of buffalo theft.

They said that a group of Jagirani tribesmen left the village to attend the hearing of a case in a court in Larkana when their rivals attacked them. In the ensuing armed clash, Mohammed Hanif Jagirani and Liaquat Ali Mugheri were killed and Lutuf Ali Jagirani and Qurban Ali Jagirani wounded, they added.

The wounded victims were admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

Man shot dead

Five armed men broke into a house and shot dead its owner, Mohammed Anwar Chutto, a landowner, in Ahsan Colony on Thursday, officials at the Sachal police station said.

They said that the intruders broke into the house and held Zaheer Chutto and Dadan Chutto at gunpoint on the ground floor. They asked the hostages if Anwar Chutto was present in the house. They then went to the upper storey, broke open the door of a room and upon finding him inside, they opened fire killing him on the spot.

The family of the victim lives in Saudi Arabia, police said, adding that some of his relatives took the body to SSP Chowk and held a protest demonstration against the murder. They, however, dispersed peacefully after registering their protest, police said.
