TOBA TEK SINGH: The death of 19 animals in a Pirmahal village Chak 334-GB Rajjowal was the result of a bacterial infection called Clostridial, which entered the bodies through either puncture wounds or contaminated fodder.

This was diagnosed in a report of a laboratory of Lahore’s University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences after it tested animal blood samples.

District Livestock and Dairy Development Officer Dr Khalid Hussain said another report of Punjab forensic laboratory suspected through its qualitative test that the animals could have been poisoned, however it will only be confirmed after reception of quantitative test report in a few days.

He claimed the deaths had stopped three days ago and hundreds of animals of the village and other adjacent rural localities were being vaccinated for expected contagious diseases.

PRAYERS: Funeral prayers in absentia were offered here in the TMA park by hundreds of citizens for the victims of the Peshawar school attack.

Among the participants were District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Yar Walana, District Coordination Officer Waqas Alam, District Police Officer Dr Shahzad Asif, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and former district nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, Assistant Commissioner Wasif Bashir, Deputy Director (Colleges) Mian Arshad, Anjuman Shahrian President Mian Ihsanul Haq Burki, Majlis Mufad Aama President Arif Qazi, Jamaat-i-Islami leader Dr Zahid Sattar, District Bar Association President Mian Naveed Mansoor, Tehsil Municipal Officer Azhar Nabi Dewan and judges and officers.

Prayers were also offered at Gojra, Kamalia and Pirmahal while a strike was observed by lawyers and traders.

Anjuman-i-Tajiran announced that another shutter-down strike will be observed on Thursday (today) to mourn the killings in Peshawar. Lawyers will also observe a strike today.

ACCIDENT: A boy was crushed to death by a train at Janiwala due to heavy fog.

Wasim Latif of Chak 319-JB was crossing a railway track near his Government Muslim High School when suddenly a Faisalabad-bound train appeared that the boy could not see due to the fog and killed him instantly.
