QUETTA: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) held public meetings in Quetta and other cities and towns on Tuesday to observe the 41st death anniversary of its founder Khan Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai.

Speaking at a public meeting in Quetta, PkMAP leaders said that their party would continue its struggle for the unification of all Pakhtun areas to form a single province.

They paid tribute to Samad Achakzai and said the late leader had great contribution in the struggle for the rights of Pakhtuns.

They said Samad Achakzai never compromised on his principles for which he had to spend more than 30 years in prison. He was a nationalist, democratic, progressive and an enlighten leader who did not believe in hatred and parochial political culture.

The PkMAP founder was in forefront in struggle against the British rule in the sub-continent and in the freedom movement, they added.

They said Samad Achakzai opposed the one-unit system in the country and struggled against the dictatorships of Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan. The late leader never bowed down to oppressive forces and remained steadfast in his struggle against the designs of evil forces.

Those who spoke included PkMAP’s provincial president Usman Kakar, provincial ministers Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal, Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai and Sardar Mustafa Tareen and MPAs Liaquat Agha and Nasrullah Zeray.
