Seasoned actor Deven Verma passes away

PUNE: Veteran Bollywood actor Deven Verma died at the Sahyadri Hospital in Pune early Tuesday morning. He was 77.

Verma suffered a heart attack and kidney failure, following which he passed away. He is survived by his wife Rupa Ganguly, who is the daughter of late legendary actor Ashok Kumar.

According to The Indian Express, Arup Kumar, a brother of Verma's wife, said: "He had been unwell for the last one-and-a-half years. He had diabetes since the last 35 years. Of late, he had developed heart problem as well. He was hospitalised on Monday evening and was in the ICU. At about 1.45am, he passed away.”

The actor was known for some of his comedic roles such as the ones in Chori Mera Kaam, Chor Ke Ghar Chor, Angoor, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Andaz Apna Apna and Kora Kaghaz to name a few.

Verma worked in 149 films in total. He was seen last on the silver screen in Calcutta Mall, which was released in 2003.
