ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has been put on high alert from Saturday to Monday to deal with any emergency in the wake of November 30 rally of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
Pims media coordinator Dr Wasim Khwaja told Dawn as many as 20 ambulances would be on a standby round the clock during this period.
The hospital administration has arranged blood of all groups in sufficient amount,besides procuring medicines for more than 2,000 patients in emergency ward, he said.
He said operation theater had been equipped so that it could cater to more than 500 patients.
On August 30, the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek protesters announced to move from D-Chowk to Prime Minister House which ensued a clash with police, leaving three persons dead and around 1,000 injured.
Dr Wasim said the Vice Chancellor of Pims Prof Javed Akram issued a notification in this regard on Friday.
He said designated teams would work in three shifts and they would handle critically injured patients.
“The patients will be registered at special emergency counter. Serious and critical patients will be registered in their respective wards and ICUs by mobile registration team and then the data will be sent to administrator,” he said.
“After the first aid the patients will be sent to concerned surgical and medical departments. Files of each patient will be maintained by the staff concerned, ” he said.
