QUETTA: The banned militant group Jundullah has claimed the responsibility for an attack in which four health workers were killed near Quetta’s Eastern Bypass on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the group, Ahmed Marwat, told reporters that the attack was carried out by his colleagues.

The health workers were going to join an emergency polio vaccination campaign launched by the provincial government when their vehicle came under fire.

Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign resumed on Friday amid tight security as the government deployed 700 personnel in areas planned to be covered.

Pillion riding has been banned in these areas. Lady health workers had refused to participate in the campaign after the attack, but ended the boycott after assurances about security were given to them.
