ISLAMABAD: Margalla police have busted an inter-provincial gang of car thieves after a brief encounter.

A police team spotted thieves taking away a car, and started chasing them.

On seeing the police personnel hard on their tail, the thieves started firing at them.

The police then retaliated and somehow managed to arrest the two men.

After preliminary interrogation, the police nabbed one of their accomplices who remained involved in multiple car theft cases in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The gang confessed to taking away 32 cars in Rawalpindi and 20 in Islamabad.

Police recovered a Suzuki Mehran car, jammers and weapons from them.
