LAHORE: An LPG dealer and a restaurant owner were murdered in separate incidents in the provincial capital on Monday.

Police said three people allegedly shot and killed LPG dealer Asghar Ali (43) following a quarrel near Akhri Mint Stop in Baghbanpura. They said Asghar Ali stopped Sheikh Yasir, also a trader in the same market, from beating a boy which led to a quarrel between the two.

The suspect, who left the venue after other shopkeepers’ interference, turned up after some time along with his two accomplices and fired at Asghar. He sustained serious injuries and expired at the Lahore General Hospital.

Police shifted the body for an autopsy and registered a murder against three absconding suspects on the complaint of victim’s brother Safdar Ali.

The owner of a restaurant, who was fatally wounded allegedly by two armed motorcyclists after chasing his car near Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk on Sunday night, died at Jinnah Hospital. His body was shifted for an autopsy.

Police have registered a murder case against unidentified suspects.

Chuhng ASP Irfan Sammu said that Rana Shoaib (30) of Sultan Town, Raiwind Road, was going by a car along with his wife when some suspects injured him with a gunshot fire. The ASP said the family stated that the victim had no enmity.

GUARD DIES: A 60-year-old guard died at Jinnah Hospital on Monday eight days after he had been shot and wounded by unidentified assailants in G-I Block in Johar Town.

Police said Abdul Lateef of Mohalla Usman Ghani, Wafaqi Colony, had received two bullets. He was admitted to Jinnah Hospital. Police said the motive for the shooting was still not clear.

ROBBER SUCCUMBS: A 29-year-old robbery suspect, who was critically wounded during a dacoity incident near Shadman Chowk a few days ago, succumbed to his wounds at Services Hospital on Monday.

Shadman police said Muhammad Wali Ashraf of Ravi Road was injured after a citizen fired at him during resistance. Police shifted the body to a hospital for an autopsy.

ROBBERIES: Robbers struck four times in the city on Monday, taking away cash and valuables worth Rs3.2 million, police said.

Three robbers, including a woman, chased the owner of Baba Computers situated in Raja Centre, Gulberg, up to his shop and looted Rs1.15m cash from him.

The victim, who deals in money exchange, reached his shop around 10am after withdrawing cash from a bank when the incident happened.

Witnesses told police the suspects who were also riding a bike, escaped after hurling weapons.

Three robbers stormed the house of Awais Ali in A-Block Sabzazar and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables valued at Rs1m.

Three muggers barged into the house of Arshad Ali in B-Block DHA in Defence B police limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables to the tune of Rs700,000.

Three outlaws burst into the house of Imtiaz in E-Block Johar Town and fled after plundering cash and valuables worth Rs400,000.

ACCIDENT: A youth was killed while his brother injured after a motorcycle they were riding was hit by a speeding Mazda vehicle on Ferozepur Road near Ghulab Devi Hospital on Monday.

Model Town police said 21-year-old Usman Masih and his brother Iqbal, residents of Yohannabaad, were going on a motorcycle in the morning when they were struck by the vehicle in the morning.

The injured were shifted to a hospital where Usman succumbed to his wounds. The suspected driver fled the scene soon after the incident.
