KHAR: The Bajaur political administration on Friday gave a three-day deadline to the Salarzai tribe to hand over perpetrators of the Nov 11 bomb explosion, or face action under the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The blast had killed political tehsildar and three Levies personnel during an anti-polio drive recently.

The decision was taken at a jirga held between Salarzai tribes and officials of the local administration at agency headquarters here.

Besides elders of various sub-tribes, members of Salarzai peace committees, Bajaur assistant political agent Sohil Ahmad Khan and other officials were in attendance. The participants expressed concern over the growing incidents of militancy in the area.

On the occasion, assistant political agent Sohil Khan said that the elders and members of peace committees failed to arrest the militants involved in the attack.

Mr Khan asked the elders to fulfill their collective responsibility with honesty and commitment to eliminate militants from the area.

He directed the jirga members to take serious efforts for the early arrest of militants and their supporters responsible for the killing of political tehsildar and levies men.

It was decided at the jirga that Salarzai tribesmen would hand over the militants to the administration within three days, otherwise, action would be taken against them under FCR.
