THIS is apropos Prof Khalid Hassan Mahmood’s letter ‘Canadian visa’ (Nov 10). Many years ago, I was in the US on a personal trip and had to go to Canada for some reason.
I had no choice but to apply for a Canadian visa on my Pakistani passport from a Canadian consulate in one of the US cities. The Canadian consulate staff where I applied was extremely helpful.
I received the Canadian visa on the same day. I was very much impressed by the speed of their work and faith in me and my passport.
I hope that other countries of the world realise that like any other nation, the majority of our citizens are peaceful and trustworthy.

Canadians were easy on you because you were already in USA legally. US consulate in Canada most probably will refuse a tourist Visa to a Pakistani.

Now It takes weeks to get Canadian Visa even in US. Walkin Visa is gone. You need mail it with all the necessary papers. But even then it is easy to get Canadian Visa once you are in US. But getting US visa in Canada is tough. US guys will ask you apply from home country .
