KHALRE: Declaring that Pakistan symbolizes the freedom, longings and aspirations of Muslim India, 31 Muslim Congressmen joined the Muslim League at a meeting of the Lahore District Muslim League Workers’ meeting under the Presidentship of Khan Rab Nawaz Khan, Advocate.

They further said they would henceforth work for the Muslim uplift and they felt sure that Pakistan alone would bring freedom to India. For Congress-League agreement, they consider it essential to bring all the Muslims within the fold of Muslim League. Chaudhry Rahmatullah, ex-General Secretary, Lahore District Congress Committee and Ghulam Farid Zakhmi of Khilafat movement are among the signatories of this declaration.

[Meanwhile,] “Peterborough” writes in the “Daily Telegraph”: Sheikh Ali Abdul Kader recently arrived in London to take up his duties as Secretary of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Regent’s Park. He flew into London looking the profound student of University of Al-Azhar that he is. When I saw him subsequently, he was in European clothes. His advent is notable as forging closer relations which the war is bringing about between Great Britain and the Moslem world. The Sheikh is anxious to begin his task of inculcating better knowledge of Islamic culture. (Dawn, Delhi)
