KHAR: The Frontier Corps l has initiated a scheme to hold free medical camps in the remote and far-flung areas of Bajaur Agency to provide diagnostic and treatment facilities to the tribal people.

Talking to journalists here on Thursday, Bajaur Scouts medical unit head Capt Dr Mohammad Usman said that the scheme was initiated in line with the special directives of inspector general of Frontier Corps and senior officials of Bajaur Scouts to provide free medical treatment to the people of the agency.

He said that under the scheme free medical camps were being held in various remote and backward areas of the agency.

He said that the free medical camps would not only ensure standard health care to tribal people at their doorsteps but would also overcome health issues and control several chronic and seasonal diseases in the region.

The official said that the first free medical camp was held in Pashat area of Salarzai tehsil on Thursday where more than 2,000 people, majority of them women and children, were provided with free treatment and medicines.

He said that most of patients were suffering from various seasonal diseases. They were examined by a group of specialist doctors while paramedics and nurses were also present on the occasion, he added.

FOOD PACKAGE: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided food packages to the victims of bomb blasts in Bajaur Agency here on Thursday.

In this connection, a ceremony was held that was attended by tribal elders, social activities and families of victims. Senior officials of the administration, USAID and security forces including Commander Bajaur Scouts Col Afraz Khan were present on the occasion.
