KARACHI: A policeman was shot dead in an Orangi Town area on Tuesday evening.

The Pirabad police said that 35-year-old Adeeb Abbasi, a head constable, was sitting at a general store near his home at Badar Chowk when two gunmen emerged there, fired at him and fled. He sustained two bullet wounds in the head and shoulder and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Investigators found two empty bullet casings of .30-bore and 9mm pistols from the spot.

The victim was posted at the Mominabad police station.

His brother, Nadeem Abbasi, also a policeman, was gunned down in Manghopir in 2013, said Pirabad SHO Nasir Mehmood.
