MANSEHRA: A mother of two was killed during an exchange of fire between robbers and villagers in Lassain Nawab area of Mansehra district in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident took place when residents of Bandi Doost Mohammad village confronted armed men taking away the cattle.

Tanveer Akhtar, who suffered a bullet injury, died on the way to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. No other damage to public life was reported, however.

Robbers managed to flee.

The Lassain police station registered an FIR of the incident and began investigation. Mohammad Shahid of the police station said unidentified gunmen had been booked for firing gunshots at villagers and killing a woman.

He said the police had begun investigation and search for the suspected killers.
