ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued a notice to the Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) government. The notice was issued following a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against KP chief secretary and others for not complying with its restraining orders regarding the control of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation’s (PTDC) assets in the province.

IHC on September 25 stopped the KP government from taking over PTDC’s assets.

PTDC Managing Director (MD) Ch Kabir Ahmed Khan and General Manager Motels PTDC Sheikh Fayyaz Ahmed sought initiation of contempt of court petition against KP Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan and KP Tourism Secretary Azam Khan.

Petitioners through their counsel Raja Saimul Haq Satti told the court that despite restraining orders, the KP government has forcibly taken possession assuming administrative control, management of assets and employees of the PTDC and its subsidiaries scattered nation-wide in collusion with senior police and other officials.

Satti maintained that the officials of KP government were well aware of the court’s orders but deliberately ignored it. He requested the court to proceed against them under the contempt of court ordinance.

IHC Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi after issuing notices to officials of KP government sought their reply within 10 days.
