K-Electric billing

Published October 31, 2014

K-ELECTRIC changed meters in our area last month and this month they sent me a bill of nearly Rs100,000 for September. This bill adds the reading of the new meter with that of the old one and the company charged me 5,809 units for the said month.

In peak summer months, my bill remains below 2,000 units for my 500 square yards house. How can the bill be more than double in September when the temperature averaged 32 degrees Celsius as compared to 37-38 during June, July and August?

Moreover, they did not show the final reading of my old meter. I am not sure about the final reading. The number of units shown on the last meter is not known to me and it appears to be a case of severe overcharging arbitrarily done by the K-Electric staff to increase revenues.

I request the K-Electric’s higher authorities to look into this matter sympathetically and resolve it by adjusting my bill to my normal consumption.
