ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said here on Wednesday that no discussion was held on the issue of creation of new provinces during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with an MQM delegation on Tuesday.

Talking to a news channel, he said a news item about the issue of new provinces having been discussed at the meeting was incorrect because this or any other political issue was not on the agenda.

According to APP, he said that water shortage and delay in completion of Lyari Expressway and development of Karachi Circular Railway were among the issues on the meeting’s agenda. However, he added, the prime minister advised the two democratically elected parties to sit together and sort out the matter, instead of discussing it in public.

Elaborating the PML-N stance on the issue of the new provinces, he said that a commission should be formed because the issue is supported by some parties and also opposed by some.
