PESHAWAR: Two mourning processions taken out from different worship places under tight security ended peacefully here on Monday.

The first procession emerged from Imambargah Baba Fazal Hussain, which after passing through the traditional routes ended at Imambargah Agha Mustafa Shah at Khudadad Street.

The second procession came out from residence of Sain Amanullah in Kotwali area and culminated at Imambargah Bibi Zikri, Kaghan Street.

Imamia Jirga secretary general Sardar Sajjad Hussain Zahid accompanied by members of the Muharram committee and representatives of different Shia organisations led the mourning processions.

Activists of Imamia Students Organisation and volunteers of different scouts’ groups extended cooperation to the administration in arranging security for the mourners.

Sardar Sajjad appreciated the security arrangements, saying that the provincial government had taken suitable steps for cleanliness, security and water supply on the procession routes.

Entry points to the routes of processions were closed by barbed wire, cemented blocks and the participants were allowed in after body search.
