ISLAMABAD: Two persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of their friend on Monday.

Police said the arrested men had suspected that the victim had made an incriminating video of them with a girl and were afraid that he would upload it to the internet. However, no such video was found in the possession of the victim.

Earlier, an abandoned body of a man had been found after a man approached Shalimar police on October 8 informing them about an unclaimed sack with bloodstains found in the room of the watchman guarding his property in F-11/3. The police reached the spot and found a body in the sack which was shifted for autopsy. The autopsy revealed that the victim had died after being severely beaten up some four days ago. Later the victim was identified as Mazhar Iqbal, 21, who had been missing since October 4 and a report was lodged with the Shalimar police station.

A team comprising SI Shafqat Mehmood and ASI Syed Fahad Sherazi carried out the investigation, and revealed that the victim left his house after receiving a call on the evening of October 4. He had informed his parents that he was going to sell his motorcycle and purchase a new one. The mobile and the motorcycle were missing, police said.

The investigators later found that the victim last talked with his school friend before leaving the house. The police picked up the friend who showed ignorance over the killing, the police said, adding that later his mobile record revealed that he was in the area where the body was recovered. His mobile record also showed that he was accompanied by another person who was arrested.

They were brought to court which permitted physical remand for investigation.
