Eight brands of bottled water declared illegal

KARACHI: Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has identified eight bottled drinking water as unfit for human consumption.

The names of products are: Active, Aqua National, Elight Water, Alpine Hyder8, Sparkel Pure, Al-Sana, Aqua Q and Aab-E-Kausar.

These products are neither approved nor licensed by the PSQCA. Purchase or sale of these brands is illegal.

Purchase or sale of the above mentioned water is against the law and the concerned persons/institution/retailers will be liable for punishment under PSQCA Act-VI/1996.

Failure to do so is punishable with fine, which shall not be less than Rs50,000 and imprisonment up to one year, says a press release.
