THE attack and robbery at the Edhi Foundation head office was a shameful act and is a reflection of the utter despicablity humans are capable of.

While thievery itself is a highly immoral act, robbing an institution that works solely for the betterment of the humans of Pakistan indicates that the perpetrators were entirely deficit of morals.

And the icing on the cake was that Abdul Sattar Edhi, philanthropist and founder of the Edhi Foundation, was kept hostage while the institution was robbed of the donations of people, despite his age and status.

When the very citizens of the country are rotten, how can we be surprised at the state Pakistan is in? I hope and pray for the sake of this country that the culprits are not allowed to run free and the authorities concerned take serious action against such crimes happening again so that citizens do not fear giving their hard-earned money to charities, only to be robbed of them.

THE robbery at the Edhi headquarters is highly condemnable. Every Pakistani sympathises with Abdul Sattar Edhi and wants immediate arrest of the robbers and recovery of the charity money in the millions and five kilogramme gold.

But this shocking incident has raised many questions about Edhi Trust’s capacity to protect charity worth millions The protection of the charity amount is the basic responsibility of every charitable organisation. One wonders why five kilogrammes of gold and local and foreign currency worth millions were placed in a locker at Edhi Trust headquarters instead of a bank.

The law and order situation in Karachi is precarious and, therefore, it appears to be odd on the part of the Edhi Trust that a huge amount of gold and cash was kept in the office without any security measures.

WHY go far in search of a Sufi in history books in seminaries: he is right there in front of our eyes in the person of Abdul Sattar Edhi.

People talk of a Nobel Prize for him, but he is much above all those worldly formalities. What a great man he is when he prays for his attackers, asking them only to return the booty as it was a trust of the people with him.
