I AM indeed surprised to read your editorial ‘More CNG licences’ (Oct 17). This clearly shows the apathy of the government to the torture the motorists have to experience at CNG stations marred by low pressure and long queues of vehicles.

I am afraid you have failed to ventilate the grievances of the motorists.

The government should intervene to look into the matter and relieve the users of CNG from the agony they have to face twice every week.

But the pity is the government is oblivious to the suffering of the people. Perhaps, it is much busy in doling favours to its buddies or haranguing its opponents.

The government should solve the problem either by providing unhindered service throughout the week or close down all these stations.

In case of closure, the next step should be to bring down the price of petrol and diesel by reducing levies on it.

The revenue of the government is not likely to fall but it will increase despite reduction in price because of increased sale of gasoline.

The government should shed its lethargy and examine the problem in a holistic manner. It will do well to form a commission consisting of experts from all stakeholders to study the affairs of the CNG business and then take measures to stem the rot.
