KARACHI: Sindh health authorities confirmed on Saturday two more deaths — a man and a woman — because of dengue fever in the city, bringing the tally to 11 in the province this year.
Officials of the newly activated dengue control cell claimed to have no knowledge of the deaths until private news channels flashed the news in this regard.
A 20-year-old man, Sarfaraz Ahmed, died in the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after remaining in a precarious condition for a week, said officials.
The victim belonged to Karachi’s East district.
A private hospital in the city reported the death of 27-year-old Noor-un-Nisa, a resident of a Korangi Crossing locality.
The officials said she had been admitted to the hospital a week ago.
They said with the latest deaths the year’s tally reached 11 — all cases reported in Karachi.
