Can PPP rise again?

Published October 25, 2014

THIS is apropos Zahid Hussain’s article ‘Can the PPP rise again?’ (Oct 15). According to the writer, given the fast changing social, political and economic landscape and the rotten tactics it relies upon, it seems difficult rather impossible for the PPP to emerge again as a mainstream political party.

I agree with the writer as far as the three provinces are concerned. But the people of Sindh, mostly rural, are so naïve and resilient that they still behold the PPP as a saviour and will continue to vote it in the foreseeable future — I bet.

But, poor Sindhis are not to be blamed for this, given the dismal state of education, lack of political consciousness and the feudal hold.
