KARAK: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel inaugurated construction work of the judicial complex here on Thursday. The project would cost Rs1.2 billion.

Speaking at the ceremony, the chief justice said that all facilities would be available for lawyers in the complex. Cordial relations between the bench and bar are essential for providing speedy justice to people, he said, adding that he was well aware of the problems being faced by the legal fraternity.

Justice Miankhel lauded the efforts of lawyers for the independence of judiciary and resolved that he would work for the welfare of lawyers.

About the kidnapping incidents, he said that it was the problem of the entire province and directed district police officer, Karak, Atiqullah Wazir to take special measures for provision of security to lawyers. He also asked the DPO to facilitate lawyers regarding the issuance of licence of 12-bore weapons to them.

The chief justice resolved that vacancies of judges for services tribunal would be filled on merit. However, he said that he would also talk to the relevant quarters in this regard.

District and sessions judges of Karak, Lakki Marwat and Bannu, deputy commissioner Shoaib Jadoon and presidents of the relevant bars were also present on this occasion.

TRAINING FOR VARSITY STAFF: The vice-chancellor of Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak, Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khattak has said that every responsible person of the society should make themselves a role model for their subordinates.

He was speaking at the launching ceremony of the five-day ‘indigenous on-campus training’ for non-teaching staff of the university and affiliated colleges, which was organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the university here on Thursday.

He said that if every individual recognised his assigned responsibilities then the whole country would see record development. Javed Mustafa Khattak, a resource person, said that in the presence of skilled employees the institutions would be strong enough to play their due role in the country’s development.
