BAKAKHEL: Pakistan cricket superstar Shahid Khan Afridi lead 'Afridi 11' to victory against 'TDP 11' in an exhibition match organised by the Pakistan Army at the Bakakhel camp in Bannu for the affectees of the North Waziristan operation.

Speaking to DawnNews after the match, Afridi gave credit to the Pakistan Army for organising the match and facilitating the North Waziristan residents. He said that events like these would boost the morale of residents of the operation-affected region.

The mercurial all-rounder praised the performance of the children from North Waziristan who participated in the match.

He said the children had continued their activities despite of their surrounding conditions and if they were continuously provided with facilities some of them would surely make the national team.

Afridi opened the innings for his team and scored 45 runs before he was caught out.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa was also present on the occasion and distributed prizes among players of the match.

The Foreign Office had recently coined 'temporarily dislocated persons (TDP)' as a new term for around two million Fata people displaced by violence and the subsequent military operations against militants in the region.
