LAHORE: A 26-year-old woman suffered burns on her face after her husband allegedly threw acid on her in Chungi Amar Sadhu here on Monday.
Cantonment SP (Operations) Muhammad Nadeem said suspect Mudassir Iqbal first engaged in arguments with Samina and then threw acid on her.
He claimed the woman suffered minor burns on her face, especially on chin, and was shifted to a hospital where her condition was said to be out of danger.
The SP said the suspect fled the scene and police teams were conducting raids for his arrest.
ROBBERIES: Muggers took away cash, jewellery and other valuables all worth Rs3.1 million in four strikes in Lahore on Monday, police said.
Four gunmen barged into the house of Mursaleen in A-II Township in Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate police jurisdiction and took away cash and valuables all worth Rs1.1m.
Some gunmen stormed into the house of Mustafa in Phase II Defence in Defence B police jurisdiction and escaped after looting cash and valuables worthRs850,000.
Some robbers struck the house of Zubaida in W-Block in Defence A police jurisdiction and made off with cash and valuables all worth Rs700,000.
Some robbers entered the house of Fazal in E-Block, Johar Town, and took away cash and valuables worth Rs450,000.
BURNT TO DEATH: A 65-year-old homeopath died while his son suffered burns during a house fire which also burned valuables worth hundreds of thousands in M-Block of Johar Town here on Monday.
Nawab Town police said Dr Iftikhar Waris, who was present at the first storey of his house, got stuck due to fire and apparently died of suffocation while his 20-year-old son Izhar suffered burns. Police said the blaze erupted in a portion of the house for some unknown reasons and spread quickly. The injured youth was admitted to a hospital.
Police resuhffle: The Punjab police chief on Monday transferred and posted two additional SPs in the capital city district police.
Lahore SP VVIP Security Rizwan Ahmad Khan was transferred and posted as Lahore Model Town SP Investigations. He was earlier holding the additional charge of the same post. SP Muhammad Baqir, who was awaiting posting, was transferred and posted as Lahore SP VVIP Security in Khan’s place.
Meanwhile, the posts of Lahore City SP (Investigations), SP Security II Security Division and DIG (Investigations) are still lying vacant despite the passage of a considerable amount of time.
