KARACHI: Seamer Shahabul Khan starred with a 12-wicket haul as Faisalabad Wolves bounced back to reach semi-finals of the PCB Inter-Region Under-19 Three-day Cricket Tournament after defeating Bahawalpur Stags by six wickets in Okara on Monday.

Shahabul, who bagged seven for 66 in the first innings, grabbed five for 25 to finish with match figures of 12 for 91 at the Gymkhana Ground. After earning a lead of 32 runs, the Stags stumbled inside 28 overs for a paltry second-innings total of 69.

Needing 102, the Wolves got home in 22.5 overs with Mohammad Afzal reaching his second half century of the quarter-final clash. He made 59 off 53 balls with eight fours and three sixes.

The Wolves, who resumed their first innings at 113-7, ended up making 190 with Afzal contributing a 73-ball 67 (11 fours and one six).

Karachi Dolphins earned a lead of 67 runs on the first innings by totalling 238 in reply to Peshawar Panthers’ 171 at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Skipper Saud Shakeel led the way with a 116-ball knock of 69 (seven boundaries).

Salman Shah captured five wickets for 61 runs.

The Panthers then collected 120-4 in their second innings to lead by 53 runs. Zawan Hikmat followed up his 73 in the first innings by scoring 57 (96 balls, seven boundaries).

Rawalpindi Rams need 25 more runs to clinch victory against Islamabad Leopards after going to stumps at 53-3 in their second innings at the National Cricket Ground in Islamabad.

Awais Iqbal claimed 5-12 to send the Leopards reeling to 61 all out in their second innings after the Rams had been bowled out for 220. Zeeshan Malik hit a 93-ball 79 with 16 boundaries, while Aamir Jamal excelled with figures of 7-95.

Lahore Eagles were in trouble at 61-4 despite taking a first-innings lead of 45 runs after Quetta Bears had been dismissed for 220 at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala. Mukhtiar Ahmed shine for the Bears with a rapid 62-ball innings of 80 (eight fours and four sixes). Kamran Afzal took 5-69.
