ISLAMABAD: Leading players of the country have confirmed their participation in the five-day National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) National Clay Court Tennis Championship, beginning from Tuesday.

Pakistan’s number one player Aqeel Khan, Davis Cupper Mohammad Abid, along with top-seeded women players Sara Mansoor and Rida Khalid are among those who have confirmed their entries for this tennis gala being organised by Subh-e-Nau here at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Complex.

Chairperson tournament organising committee Shahida Farooq said in a statement on Sunday that this tournament is another step from Subh-e-Nau for promoting the game in Pakistan.

She said that for the last 24 years, Subh-e-Nau has proved itself as a torch bearer in tennis promotion activities with a track record of hosting dozens of international, national and domestic events.

“The Clay Court tennis events were revived back in 2003 and since then these events have been regularly on annual basis,” she said.

Entry deadline for this event is 3:00pm on Monday, Oct 20 and players can send their entries in men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, boys juniors under-18 singles and mixed doubles.
