PESHAWAR: As most parts of Pakistan are set to observe Eid ul Azha on Monday, people in some parts of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province celebrated the festival on Sunday (today), including the provincial chief minister Pervaiz Khattak. Some tribesmen in Fata region along with the Afghan refugees had celebrated Eid with Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak offered Eid prayers at his ancestral village in Nowshera, however, provincial governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan and other KP cabinet members from Hazara and Malakand will be observing it on Monday.

Responding on KP chief minister celebrating Eid a day before the nation, he said that the festival was being observed in the chief minister's hometown and so does he celebrated it with his natives.

Strict security measures were put in place for Eid prayers, which were offered in different mosques of the provincial capital Peshawar including other districts Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
