QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has asked law-enforcement agencies to take steps for improving the law and order situation in the province by ensuring better coordination among them.
Presiding over a meeting on Wednesday, the chief minister said the law and order situation had improved in the province but added that more steps were needed to further improve the situation.
The meeting was told that cases of terrorism, sectarian violence, killing, robbery, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes had declined to a great extent in the province.
The officials informed the meeting of the steps being taken by the government and law-enforcement agencies for restoring peace and order in Balochistan.
The meeting noted that people were extending their full cooperation to police, Levies and other law-enforcement agencies in curbing crime.
Dr Baloch directed the authorities concerned to ensure protection of life and property of people.
“Improvement of law and order situation is our top priority and the government is using all available resources to improve the capacity of law-enforcement agencies and providing them with latest weapons and vehicles for the purpose,” he remarked.
He said that better coordination among personnel of police, Levies and other law-enforcement agencies, the people and traders was yielding positive results.
“The provincial government is committed to implementing its policy of neutralising any political pressure in police and other departments,” the chief minister said.
Dr Baloch said that powers of police had been enhanced to improve the law and order situation, but they (police) should avoid misuse of their powers and work for security of the people.
The chief minister also directed the law-enforcement agencies to take stringent security measures on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattha, Home Secretary Muhammad Akbar Hussain Durrani, Principal Secretary Naseem Lehri, Acting IGP Ahsan Mehboob and FC DIG Brig Tahir attended the meeting.
