SC restores disqualified PTI MPA

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday restored the membership of the PTI’s Sardar Ikramullah Gandapur as a member of the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk heard the petition of the PTI MPA pertaining to his suspension by an election tribunal due to allegations of holding a fake degree.

Gandapur was elected in by-elections from PK-67 Dera Ismail Khan on a PTI ticket after the death of his brother Israrulah Gandapur in a suicide attack in his hometown.

Earlier, the election tribunal had recommended the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to cancel Gandapur’s membership on charges of holding a fake degree.

During the hearing on Wednesday, the apex court suspended the decision of the election tribunal and restored the membership of Gandapur by issuing notices to all the concerned persons in the petition.

It would really be worthwhile for us readers if you could research and give some details as to why his degree was declared fake in the first place and how it is now declared as an original? I am just curious to know how this circus works, perhaps election tribunal and ECP both took bribes and Supreme Court rejected, just curious. If you had told us see we wouldn't be having all these naughty thoughts.

@zafar Yes, please. Tell the reason and also how come he got a degree in few days needed for his restoration? MPs' Suspension, restoration and disqualification sounds like kids games. Every now and then we hear it. No sever penalties for the law breakers and for those who misinterpret laws. The party leader must be put in jail for allotting tickets to such guys.

This is our system of justice, no wonder why people are fed up. Imran should himself look to the matter and if he find him guilty he should be removed from the party. If not, he will lost the backing of educated class. We are not blind supporters of any party, we love imran but we want jutice for all. Imran please set example, people will vote for any person you chose who is not liar or corrupt.

@zafar Unfortunately the media never provided any reasons why ECP disqualified him as well beyond headline of fake degree. They should highlight the dispute and tell what both sides are saying.
