RAWALPINDI: The School Education Department (SED) has directed the education department, Rawalpindi to appoint teachers in those primary schools which are being run by only one staff member.

Secretary, SED, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen directed the executive district officer (EDO), Education, to submit a compliance report in his office within three working days.

“The secretary has directed me to appoint teachers in the schools as per their requirement,” said EDO Qazi Zahoorul Haq.

He said there were 30 schools in hard areas of the district and some in city areas, including Gujar Khan tehsil, which were being looked after by a single teacher in sheer violations of rules.

According to sources, whenever the department transferred any teacher to hard areas particularly Murree and Kotli Sattian, they managed to get their transfer orders cancelled.

However, the EDO said this time no teacher would be given relaxations and all schools of the district will have the required staff.

“I assure you, now, there will be no single-teacher school in the district,” he said.
