Special Time lands Ginza Cup

LAHORE: The chestnut filly, Special Time clicked on time to score a smooth success in the Ginza Cup run over 1000 metres during the day/night racing at the Racecourse here on Saturday evening..

The 80 to 100 favourite filly proved herself fantastic filly winning in a style clocking one minute 0 3/5 seconds over the race distance. She beat bay mare Unanimous by half-a-length at the finish. Al Fajre and Hidden Passion completed the frame

Owned by Iftikhar Ahmad Sahi Special Time gave trainer Tauqir Ahmad his second victory of the day when earlier he had sent out bay colt Preetam in the opener.

He later saddled bay colt Edgar in the sixth race to register his third win to the great delight of the punters, who made complete sweep when favourite romped home in the seven-race card.

Saturday turned out to be a memorable day for Tauqir, who besides his horses’ fine performance was also exonerated in an inquiry instituted against “unsatisfactory performance” of his colt, No Way on Sept 13.

Lahore Race Club (LRC) veterinarian who examined the colt found No Way’s fetlock swollen, riddled with pain which according to the vet could have affected colt’s running during the race

The best performer of the programme was the chestnut colt, Born To Win Again, who stormed to maiden success for owner Malik Hamid Ali Noon and trainer Haji Abid Mahmood in the last race.

Born To Win Again beat New Tear by five lengths.
