Road blockade

Published September 21, 2014

THERE is much hue and cry about the sit-in in Islamabad and the consequent hardship faced by the citizens there. But let us not forget Karachi.

For almost six years, the road in and around Bilawal House has been closed and, recently, owing to a sit-in by protesting teachers the road leading from Boating Basin to Bilawal House is closed too.

Additionally, for over six months the road in front of Abdullah Shah Ghazi and Park Tower has been closed owing to disputes among authorities on the flyover being built there.

These road blockades cause a great hardship to people returning home.

Why on earth cannot the encroachment around Bilawal House be removed?

Why block the road and add to citizens’ misery?

I am sure life under the Mughals and Abdalis and Nadir Shahs was far better than what we have during these ‘democratic governments’.

If these road blockades are not cleared within a week, I will join the PTI and PAT sit-ins with all my friends and family.
