QUETTA: A police officer was gunned down and security forces seized explosive material from Marri camp area, police said on Thursday.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Najeebullah Tareen was shot dead by unidentified attackers at Al-Gilani road.

“The police officer received seven bullets and died on the spot,” an official said, adding that the murdered ASI worked with SP Investigation.

Meanwhile, security forces on Thursday night raided Marri Camp area on the outskirts of Quetta and recovered 280kg of explosive substance.

No details about the matter were immediately available.
