ISLAMABAD: Veteran middle-order batsman Younis Khan has said the green-shirts have great potential to win the 2015 World Cup.

Talking to a private news channel, the batting great said that Pakistan are capable of clinching the title since the team have a fine track record in mega events like the World Cup.

“The team are in good spirit and we can at least qualify for the final and if God helps us, we can win the World Cup,” Younis maintained.

He further said that unveiling of the ICC World Cup trophy in Lahore reminded him of the good old days of his early cricket.

Talking about national team preparations for the upcoming mega event, the veteran batsman said that fielding is the department that Pakistan need to look at properly, otherwise the team have got great talent in batting as well as bowling department.

Younis also advised young players to perform their best at the World Cup saying that the World Cup is such an event that makes or breaks career of any young cricketer.

Replying to a question, Younis expressed his confidence in the newly-appointed T20 captain Shahid Afridi, saying: “He is a brilliant T20 player as well as captain.”

He further said that Javed Miandad was his hero in the batting department.
