TIMERGARA: Rejecting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's rationalisation policy for teachers’ transfers and adjustment in government high and higher secondary schools, the teachers’ community on Wednesday demanded of the higher authorities to abandon the policy in the best interest of students.

A meeting of certified teachers (CTs) from the district was held at Chakdara with Syedul Ibrar in the chair.

The participants said that the present policy of the government was based on ad-hocism, as it wanted to run schools with the existing staff instead of recruiting new teachers.

Under the policy, the government wanted to ensure that there should be one CT teacher for 60 students in class 6th, 7th and 8th. Teachers of schools having less enrolment would be adjusted in schools having high number of students.

They warned to move the court if their demand was not accepted.

LAB ASSISTANTS: All Laboratory Assistants Association, Lower Dir, on Wednesday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to upgrade their scales like teachers and clerks according to the court verdict.

The demand was made during a meeting of the association held at Ziarat Talash with its district president Bakht Roidar in the chair. The lab assistants from different parts of the district said that the government upgraded scales of teachers and clerks in the province while they were not being promoted even once during their service. They threatened to stage a protest sit-in in front of CM House if their demand was not accepted.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Anjuman Tajaran, Chakdara, met the new assistant commissioner, Adenzai, Zahid Pervez at his office on Wednesday. The traders’ body president Faizul Ghafoor led the delegation. Talking to them, Mr Pervez said that action would be taken against hoarders and violators of official price list.
