PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s future prospect Saad Amin of Sindh added five more gold medals to his overnight tally of eight golds at the 19th National Age Group Swimming Championship at the Adil Khan Swimming Pool here on Sunday.

On the third day of the competitions in U-16 category, Saad won gold medals in 400m IM (record time), 200m butterfly, 1500m freestyle (record time), 50m breaststroke and 100m butterfly.

The 16-year-old Saad got the honour of creating overall nine national records in 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m IM, 400m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke, 400m IM, 1500m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Another promising 12-year-old Muneeb Shafique also created overall four records in U-12 competitions in 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly.

Muneeb took gold medals in 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

In the U-14 events, Humza Anwar of Sindh in 400 freestyle, Punjab’s Ismail Najeeb in 200m backstroke, Sindh team in 4X200m freestyle relay and Sindh’s Aamir Motiwala in 200m backstroke got honour of creating new national records.

In the U-14 competitions, Sindh took 13 gold, seven silver and four bronze medals with 353 points at the top followed by Punjab with three silver and five bronze medals with 105 points and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with three silver and four bronze medals with 102 points.

In the U-16 category, Sindh grabbed 16 gold, nine silver and five bronze medals with 544 points followed by Punjab with 172 grabbing one gold, eight silver and three bronze medals while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with nine bronze medals secured 120 points.

In the overall team position, Sindh with 40 gold, 25 silver and 10 bronze medals secured 1233 points followed by Punjab with one gold, 11 silver and nine bronze medals securing 335 points and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with five silver and 22 bronze medals with 329 points. Gilgit-Baltistan have so far failed to win any medal.

In the overall team position of all three categories (U-12, U-14 and U-16), Sindh grabbed 11gold, nine silver and a bronze medal with 336 points, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with two silver and nine bronze medals achieved 107 points and Punjab took one bronze medal to get 58 points.
