KIEV: Russian President Vladimir Putin's goal is to destroy Ukraine as an independent country and to restore the Soviet Union, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk said on Saturday.
Speaking at an conference in Kiev attended by European and Ukrainian lawmakers and business leaders, Yatseniuk also praised a new wave of economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union and the United States and said they posed a major threat to the Russian economy.
“We are still in a stage of war and the key aggressor is the Russian Federation ... Putin wants another frozen conflict (in eastern Ukraine),” Yatseniuk said.
“His goal is to take the entire Ukraine ... Russia is a threat to the global order and to the security of the entire Europe.”

Ukraine was successful in attracting the attention of US and EU. Now it has opened up a new frontier of fight which is going to be a nuclear war and end of the world.
If US & EU thinks it has conventional superiority then it will be asymmetrical war. Russia has no choice but to use nuclear war heads ..........

Ukraine's PM makes highly exaggerated statements, and insensible. He is a pawn of the EU.

Recreating USSR will create a strong counterbalance to China and also reduce Chinese onslaught on former USSR Territories , future war may be fought not between US and China but between USSR and China.

Russia may be trying to create a new sphere of influence, but aren't UK and France trying to recreate colonial empires and Germany the Fourth Reich? In short folks, the cold-war is back on. In fact the cold-war was back on when unseen-hands (to employ a term from Pakistani politics) forced Yeltsin to resign and presidency landed in Putin's lap. Till date it is a mystery to me, why Yeltsin, who called artillery fire on the parliament building, murdering 180 elected legislators in four hours, just walked away from power one fine morning.

If anyone is destroying Ukraine, it is the fascist junta in Kiev which is massacring its own people
