GUJRANWALA: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected on Tuesday the bail application of six Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists who were accused of attacking and injuring police officials during their long march on GT Road.

The counsel for the accused argued before the court of judge Ittefaq Abassi that the police had implicated his clients in the terrorism case, however, the prosecution argued against the bail application.

The court heard the arguments of both sides and rejected the bail application.

Kamoki Saddar police had arrested Minhajul Quran Kamoki’s vice-president Asad Gondal and workers Muhammad Imran, Abdul Sattar, Zeshan Ahmad, Ghulam Dastgir and Zahid on GT Road near Sadhoki on charges of attacking police officials with spears and clubs and injuring DSP Rashid Sandho, two SHOs and other officials.

A case was registered against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

GANG BUSTED: City Police Officer Waqas Nazir claim that Baghbanpura police have busted a gang of motorcycle lifters.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, he said four motorcycles, 10 mobile phones, Rs50,000 in cash and four pistols were also recovered from the four suspects.

PROTEST: Small farmers of Talwandi Musa Khan held a protest against water canal theft by the influential landlords in connivance with the irrigation officers.

The farmers alleged that irrigation officials received bribe from the landlords to allow them to steal canal water. They said when they complained against the theft, they were implicated in water theft cases.

They chanted slogans against the irrigation officials and demanded action against them.

KIDNAPPED: Two women were allegedly kidnapped in separate incidents.

Reports said Parveen, wife of Imran of Kot Rafiq, was on her way when suspect Saifur Rehman along with his three unidentified accomplices bundled her into a van and drove away.

Another woman, identified as Aqsa of Mohanpur Bhattian, was kidnapped by four suspects, including Naseer and Muneer, from Kamoki.
