Total investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs4384.541bn in the week ending August 8, down 0.4pc from Rs4406.077bn at the end of the prior week, according to latest central bank data.

When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3718.076bn, the current week’s investment figure is higher by 17.92pc.

Investments of all commercial banks stood at Rs4351.407bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs4374.756bn, down 0.53pc. Investments of all specialised banks stood at Rs33.134bn in the week, against the prior week’s Rs31.321bn.

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ending August 8, cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks rose by 3pc to Rs704.183bn, against the earlier week’s Rs683.722bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 11.33pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs632.525bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all commercial banks stood at Rs700.778bn in the week, against the earlier week’s figure of Rs680.419bn, also up 3pc. Cash and balances with treasury banks of all specialised banks stood at Rs3.405bn in the week, against the preceding week’s Rs3.303bn.

Gross advances by scheduled banks stood at Rs4218.767bn in the week under review, down 0.50pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs4240.101bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3796.855bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 11.11pc.

Advances by commercial banks declined by 0.52pc to Rs4085.805bn in the week, against the earlier week’s Rs4107.310bn. Advances by specialised banks stood at Rs132.962bn in the week.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs10198.634bn in the week ending August 8, lower by 0.56pc over the preceding week’s Rs10255. 943bn. The current week’s figure is higher by13.15pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs9013.557bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs10021.415bn in the week, lower by 0.54pc over the previous week’s figure of Rs10076.230bn. Total assets of all specialised banks stood at Rs177.219bn, against the previous week’s Rs179.713bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks fell to Rs689.280bn in the week under review, over the preceding week’s Rs732.703, or by 5.93pc. Borrowings by all commercial banks fell to Rs610.556bn in the week, against the previous week’s Rs651.858bn, or by 6.34pc. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs78.724bn, against the preceding week’s Rs80.845bn.

Deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks dipped by 0.1pc to Rs7971.645bn in the week ending August 8, against the earlier week’s figure of Rs7980.033bn. Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks dropped 0.10pc to Rs7951.093bn, against the preceding week’s Rs7959.248bn. Specialised banks deposits stood at Rs20.552bn, against the previous week’s Rs20.785bn.

Other liabilities of all scheduled banks stood at Rs354.741bn in the week under review, against the preceding week’s Rs366.833bn, down 3.30pc. Other liabilities of all commercial banks declined to Rs301.363bn over the previous week’s Rs313.160bn, or by 3.76pc.

Net assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs992.02bn in the week ending August 8, against the preceding week’s Rs992.841bn. Net assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs971.588bn in the week, down 0.10pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs972.557bn. Net assets of all specialised banks stood at Rs20.432bn in the week.
