KARACHI: Shahid Khan and Aaqib Javed shared honours on the opening day of the PCB Inter-Region Under-19 Tournament by scoring fine centuries on Sunday.

Shahid struck 105 (141 balls, 14 boundaries) to help Faisalabad Wolves amass 344 in their first innings after deciding to bat first in the Pool ‘B’ fixture against Abbottabad Falcons at the Sports Stadium in Sargodha. Atiq-ur-Rehman also batted well to make 79 with 10 boundaries.

The Falcons were reeling at 5-2 in reply with both wickets claimed by Mudassar Riaz.

Multan Tigers were at the receiving end in the Pool ‘C’ game at the Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur as Aaqib Javed hammered 106 from 17- balls (eight fours and one six) to inspire hosts Bahawalpur Stags post 299-8 in the allotted first-innings quota 83 overs.

The Tigers were 15-1 at draw of stumps.

Karachi Dolphins collected 38-1 after Larkana Bulls made 212 in their first innings of the Pool ‘A’ encounter here at the NBP Sports Complex. Taimur Ali was top-scorer for the visitors with a 195-ball 65 (six boundaries), while Ghulam Mudassar bagged four wickets for 50 runs.

Hyderabad Hawks were 111-5 after restricting Dera Murad Jamali Ibexes to 186 all out at the Niaz Stadium. Dawood Khan hit 77 off 137 balls with the aid of 11 fours. Daniyal Rajput claimed 4-32.

Zeeshan Malik missed out on reaching three figures by just one run but his 114-ball 99 (12 fours and two sixes) while Nauman Ali contributed 91 (216 balls, 11 boundaries) as Rawalpindi Rams piled up an impressive 338-7 against Karachi Zebras in the Pool ‘C’ fixture at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The Zebras responded by closing on 39-1 at close of play.

Peshawar Panthers were in trouble at 123-9 in 35 overs of action in the Pool ‘D’ game against the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Colts at the LCCA Ground in Lahore. Hassan Khan has so far grabbed four wickets for only eight runs.
