The misguided faction

Published September 1, 2014

THE display of shrouds by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek was the most harrowing and disgusting feeling I have ever experienced as a Pakistani. Is this the way for ‘inqilaab’? Playing with religious sentiments of Muslims is the last thing that any good Muslim would choose. Arousing Muslims against Muslims has never been appreciated in Islam.

Only the Islam of Abdullah bin Obay and his ilk would choose such a path of vengeance. Dr Tahirul Qadri has a safe haven in Canada but what about the Pakistanis who are being aroused by him for so-called ‘shahadat’? Who is Dr.Qadri to decide that the Sharif brothers should be hanged? Where does Islam suggest this punishment?

Can there be any night more sacred than Shab-i-Qadar? Does a person ready for ‘shahadat’ surround himself with guards and bullet-proof cars?

Please stop playing with Islam and Muslims. Islam and Pakistan are the most valuable assets for us. Stop misguiding the sentiments of the people.

Yes, there are major defects in our governance system but no outside force can be allowed to intervene. We don’t need any Canadian expert for our amelioration.
